Aftercare instructions and Information
Taking care of your skin after…..
It’s important to follow all of the necessary Aftercare steps in order to ensure that your skin heals correctly and the best results are achieved.
Microblading: After your appointment
Please be sure to keep a barrier of A&D ointment (which we will provide) on your newly tattooed procedure at all times for the next seven days. Re-apply every four to six hours with a new, clean Q-tip and not your fingers. The A&D ointment keeps the skin moist and protected during the healing process which will prevent hair spray, perfume, dust, etc. from entering the treated area.
Do not over saturate your brows with A&D ointment. Only a very small amount and thin layer is needed. Similar to the size of a grain of rice for each brow is ideal.
Do not use Neosporin, Aquaphor and or Petroleum on your newly tattooed area.
Do not touch the tattooed area with your fingers for the first day. Be sure that when you do begin to touch the treated areas that you thoroughly wash your hands.
Feel free to cleanse your skin around treated area, avoiding any direct contact with the tattoo.
Remember, your brows will appear very dark on Days 2-5. This is due to the oxidation of the color pigment in your skin. You may also experience a reddish-hue on the brows, this will diminish as well. After approximately 5 days it will begin to lighten to the true color and tone.
Do not pick or peel the flaking, scabbing skin as this could pull the pigment out of the newly tattooed area and/ or cause scarring. Flaking and scabbing are natural reactions to the healing process and will start to occur around Day 2-3.
On Day 2, you can lightly cleanse your brows with a small amount of Cetaphil Cleanser (which we will provide). Always remember to wash your hands thoroughly prior to touching your brows. Mix a “pea-size” amount Cetaphil cleanser with a small amount of water, on your finger tips. Gently and lightly massage the area and then use cool water to rinse off the access. Ensure that all of the cleanser has been rinsed away. Pat dry with a tissue and or paper towel. Then apply a very thin layer of you’re A & D ointment with a Q-tip to keep the area protected and moisturized. You can do this once a day. Do not use a regular hand towel on your brows, in order to avoid any cross contamination.
If necessary, sleep with your head elevated for the first several nights to help decrease swelling. Sleep on an old pillowcase or place a towel over your pillow in case pigment flakes off during the healing process.
You may use ice for ten minutes every hour for swelling, though it is not recommended for long term use. Long exposure to ice can also pull pigment out of the skin.
Do not place any make-up product on any treated areas that a service was performed (brows, lashes, forehead, cheeks, etc.) for 14 days. Make-up can be applied around the treated areas only, avoiding any contact with the tattoo.
No sun or tanning beds for at least the next seven days.
No extremely HOT showers, swimming, saunas or facing the shower head pressure for the next ten to fourteen days.
No anti-aging creams of any sort for two weeks.
No blood donations for a year. Consult your local Blood Donation Clinic to confirm pre-cautions after having permanent make-up procedures performed. Grace and Envy uses single-use needles only during procedures.
For Eyeliner and or Lash Line Enhancement - you must buy a new tube of mascara and new eyeliner before returning to the use of eye makeup after seven days.
Microblading Day to Day Expectations:
Day 1 - you may experience soreness to the brow and or eye area.
Day 2-5 - your brows will appear much darker, due to the oxidation of the pigment. They may also have a reddish-hue which will begin to diminish as they lighten. Itching, scabbing and flaking may occur, this is part of the natural healing process and is to be expected. Avoid picking and or peeling the area so no pigment loss occurs.
Day 5-10 - brows will start to lighten.
Day 7-14 - your brows may appear a little mis-shapened and you might experience some flaking.
Day 15-30 - your brows may be a little “patchy” due to any pigment loss.
Day 30 + - you will be ready for your scheduled touch-up appointment, where we can fill in any gaps or missing hair-strokes, re-establish the color pigment and make any adjustments necessary to ensure your perfect brows. Remember, Microblading is a multiple process, it requires layering in order to achieve the perfect look.
Please note that the first week after your procedure, your brows will go through various stages of the healing process. Your brows may not look as expected. Please be sure when scheduling your appointment to keep this in mind, just in case you have any special events coming up.
Immediately after the procedure is how you can anticipate the healed result to look.
In the hours following the appointment, your brows will darken noticeably (and will remain dark for 5-10 days), the hair strokes will appear much thicker than initially due to swelling. This will cause the brows to look dark, a bit larger, and misshapen the first few weeks after the procedure. The appearance of much darker brows is due to the color pigment oxidation. Your brows will continue to lighten throughout the 4 week healing process.
Lash Liner Enhancement / Semi-Permanent Eyeliner - Aftercare:
Your eyes may appear to be somewhat swollen after the appointment. The tattooed liner may appear slightly thicker and darker than expected, but will return to the original tattooed look once healed.
You may see some blood and redness along the tattooed liner, as well as some bruising. Swelling may occur for the first 1-2 days
Avoid touching and or rubbing your eyes.
Be sure to regularly and thoroughly wash your hands to avoid any contamination and or reactions around the eye area.
Do not apply any eye-makeup for 7 days. Do not wet or cleanse your eyes for 4 days.
Apply a very thin, small (1/2 size of a grain of rice to each lid) amount A&D ointment to the treated area 2-3 times a day for 7 days. Do not over saturate, to avoid A&D ointment getting into your eyes.
On Day 4, you can lightly cleanse your eyes with a small amount of Cetaphil Cleanser (which we will provide). Always remember to wash your hands thoroughly prior to touching your eyes.
You can begin wearing your regular makeup after 1 week.
You must buy a new tube of mascara and new eyeliner before returning to the use of eye makeup after seven days.
A touch-up appointment is not always necessary with Lash Line Enhancements and Eyeliner. If a client would like to schedule a touch-up appointment for 4-6 weeks out, at that time we can enhance any areas that did not take during the first initial appointment. Most clients do not feel that a touch-up appointment is necessary after their initial session.
Semi-Permanent Freckles - Aftercare:
Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly before touching and or cleansing the treated area(s).
Use Cetaphil cleanser daily, for up to 2 weeks. Always remember to wash your hands thoroughly prior to touching the treated area. Then apply a very thin layer of you’re A & D ointment with a Q-tip to keep the treated area protected and moisturized. You can do this once a day. Do not use a regular hand towel on your brows, in order to avoid any cross contamination.
Do not pick and or disturb any scabs that may be forming. Allow the healing process to occur naturally.
Apply a very thin layer of A&D ointment to the treated area(s) as needed for 1 week.
Do not apply any makeup or other products to the treated area(s) for to 2 weeks.
Avoid sun exposure for 4 weeks after the procedure, until fully healed.
Your Freckles will appear Darker on Day 2-7, this is due to the oxidation process of the color pigment. Please note that the Freckles will begin to lighten and start looking more natural starting Day 7-14.
Your Freckles may begin the flake and scab a bit, be sure not to pick and or peel, to ensure that the pigment is not disturbed.
Once healed, you are able to return to your regular make-up routine.
